Bormio, 27 October 2026 – Funivia Bormio Active Hotel announces its winter reopening on 5 December 2026, consolidating the signature features that make it unique and recognisable to mountain and wellbeing enthusiasts. Located right at the foot of the Stelvio piste, it welcomes an Adults Friendly +12 audience seeking fitness and wellness experiences offered in a perfectly balanced combination.

Then there is that incomparable sense of genuine community which only the warmth of the Bonacorsi-Schena family, with their infectious enthusiasm, can translate into hospitality that is both impeccable and friendly.

Move. Recover. Repeat. An infectious routine

Some kinds of energy are instantly recognisable. This is the energy of those who come to Bormio to follow their passions: skiing, training and regaining balance through movement, wellbeing and a love of the mountains. Funivia Bormio Active Hotel is a place for those who consider self-care part of their lifestyle, where meeting people with similar interests is included in the welcome.

Even before the Active Breakfast, a generous and varied buffet of fresh, nutritious local produce, guests can begin their day at Funivia with physical preparation for outdoor activities. Yoga, Pilates and other classes are held daily by The Shealth team, internationally experienced training professionals. The courses offer one class per day, scheduled across mornings and evenings. A workout can therefore become a way to prepare for a day in the snow, or a recovery session on returning.

Funivia is also an HYROX-affiliated hotel, offering two gyms: a weights room with professional equipment and a fitness area for bodyweight training. There is more: the property is equipped for triathlon training, with a counter-current swimming pool, bikes and Technogym treadmills for indoor running and cycling.

At Funivia, the active approach stems from a calling shared by the whole family, who have always been connected to sport and the mountains. Elisa Bonacorsi was a skier on the Italian national team; her husband Daniele Schena, also known as Stelvioman, is a cycling guide with thousands of social-media followers; and their second son Lorenzo is a mid-mountain guide. All are ski instructors. Their experience is available to guests for outdoor activities, whether organising guided outings or sharing routes, passions and local knowledge. Guests can therefore choose to join a guided activity or head out independently to pursue their passions.

On returning, the pace changes: an outdoor pool overlooking the Stelvio piste, an indoor sauna and a steam room become spaces for recovery, alongside the option of booking massages and treatments.

Before dinner, guests can enjoy an aperitif at the bar and share the day’s experiences. Then, at last, it is time for the pleasures of the table. The à la carte restaurant, overseen by chef Federico Corsi, offers a variety of dishes combining flavour and tradition, with a focus on quality local ingredients and balanced, light recipes suited to a healthy, active lifestyle.

At Funivia, love of the mountains also means balance with nature. Attention to sustainability completes the hotel’s philosophy: Funivia is the first property in Bormio to obtain ISO 21401 certification, the international standard for sustainability management systems in accommodation establishments, integrating environmental, social and economic aspects.

Everyone has their own pace: a tailor-made stay

At Funivia, each person is at the centre of the experience, with their own habits, passions, goals and needs. The hotel therefore allows guests to build different journeys, choosing between training, outdoor activities, recovery and wellbeing according to their own rhythm.

The Wellbeing Room is dedicated to personalisation: by appointment, guests can create individual pathways through functional tests, consultations, treatments and programmes with a Personal Trainer, also supported by biomechanical platforms and nutritional advice.

For more exclusive recovery, there is the panoramic Private Spa, the Wellness Suite with a private sauna and the Fitness Suites with Technogym equipment.

A passion for snow feels at home here

The Olympics turned the world’s spotlight on Bormio, bringing the destination, and especially the Stelvio piste, to international attention. The piste has always been part of Alpine skiing history.

The adrenaline of the Olympics still lingers. At Funivia, right at the finish of the legendary Stelvio, the excitement of the races was experienced from a privileged position, just steps from the champions’ finish line. During the Games, the piste was reserved for athletes; today, at last, it is available again to anyone wishing to test themselves. The Stelvio can therefore become a personal experience: the freedom to ski on the champions’ piste, on the very terrain where Olympic medals were contested in men’s Alpine skiing and in ski mountaineering, making its Olympic debut.

The Stelvio piste borders Funivia’s garden: reaching the lifts requires only a short warm-up walk, while on returning guests can ski directly to the hotel and enter the heated ski room, with individual lockers for boots and equipment. Those wishing to improve their technique or try a different snow activity can create personalised experiences drawing on the family’s expertise, with private or group lessons according to their level, interests and personal goals.

The Stelvio, with approximately 1,800 metres of vertical drop from an altitude of 3,000 metres down to Bormio, will also take the international stage in winter 2026: on 28 and 29 December, Bormio will host two Alpine Ski World Cup races, men’s downhill and super-G.

But Bormio offers more than skiing. The winter season allows guests to alternate sport and outdoor activities with thermal baths and wellness, gastronomy, culture and mountain life, shaping each day at their own pace. Funivia Hotel’s location makes it possible to enjoy both the mountains and the town, with central Bormio easily reached across the pedestrian and cycle bridge over the Frodolfo. The historic centre preserves a rich heritage, from the Kuerc to the Torre delle Ore, from ancient palaces to churches and the Civic Museum at Palazzo De Simoni. Then there is the food: pizzoccheri, sciatt, Valtellina bresaola, Alpine cheeses and Valtellina wines, alongside Braulio, the herbal bitter whose historic cellars are in the old town.

Funivia Hotel’s tailor-made philosophy takes shape in two offers, which can be personalised according to the length of stay.
